Case Summary:

A postdoctoral research fellow from China approached North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to file an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition for him.

With advanced degrees in hydrology and water resources engineering, multiple publications (26 peer-reviewed journal articles, 2 book chapters, 2 technical reports, 1 suite of training materials, and 4 conference papers), and 160 citations to his work, our client had strong credentials to file his case under the EB-2 NIW visa category. To further fortify our presentation to the USCIS, we urged our client to coordinate with potential recommenders and ask them for testimonials. The six recommendation letters that our client obtained were promptly included in our carefully worded NIW petition packet and submitted to the USCIS on his behalf. One of these letters stated, “There is an abiding need for [Client’s] incomparable skillset and the specific research strides it has allowed him to make… It is therefore imperative that we permit [Client] to remain a productive scientist in the United States.”

We supplemented these letters with details of our client’s research on hydrological patterns and variability through the use of satellite remote sensing, with the objective of developing improved disaster response decision support systems in areas that are most vulnerable to flooding and extreme hydrological events. We demonstrated that his investigations contribute to the United States economy by mitigating the effects of damaging weather events, particularly floods, which cost the U.S. billions of dollars each year.

We are pleased that our client’s NIW petition was approved, and we wish him well in his future research endeavors.
