On October 2, 2013, we received another EB-1B (Outstanding Professor or Researcher) Approval for a Research Assistant Professor in the field of Biophysics (Approval Notice).
General Field: Biophysics
Petitioner: University
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Research Assistant Professor
National Origin: India
Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)
State Residing at the Time of Filing: Minnesota
Approval Notice Date: October 2, 2013
Processing Time: 3 months and 5 days
Case Summary:
We at Chen Immigration Law Associates had the opportunity to work with a research assistant professor who focused on the development of solid state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) methods when it comes to membrane proteins within cardiovascular diseases in biophysics. The current university that this client works for acted as a supporter and sponsor when it came to this EB-1B petition. Additionally, the beneficiary, who is interested in drug molecule, food material, and membrane protein studies, contributed towards 18 peer-reviewed scholarly articles published throughout leading journals, as well as 13 conference articles at internationally peer-reviewed venues. His publications have been cited at least 122 times by researchers around the world, demonstrating the international recognition for his work. Additionally, we submitted nine strong recommendation letters from experts and researchers in the shared field confirming the beneficiary’s significant contributions and international recognition as an outstanding researcher in the field of endeavor (eight of these recommenders have not worked directly with the client). His expertise can also be seen in a quote by an independent recommender, “Although SSNMR technique has advanced in recent years, it has few drawbacks, including the long time that it takes to execute the experiments that describe the structure of biological substances. [Client] has intervened in this area by creating three new methods for MAS solid state NMR: 2D DUMAS (dual acquisition magic angle spinning), 3D DUMAS, and MEIOSIS, (“multiple experiments via orphan spin operators”). The DUMAS method combines two multi-dimensional experiments that were previously executed separately, thus adding speed to MAS solid state NMR techniques and doubling the capability of standard NMR spectrometers. Just as significant, [Client’s] DUMAS method in particular does not require new hardware and can be utilized with any modern spectrometer. For example, using his DUMAS methodology [Client] combines that DARR experiment that is developed in my group with another experiment, namely NCA. Most importantly, this methodology can be applied to combine several pairs of experiments and thus represents a breakthrough in the field of MAS SSNMR. In other words, [Client’s] DUMAS method is not just a single experiment but rather a new approach in MAS solid state NMR. I am fascinated by his idea of utilizing simultaneous cross polarization and long T1 relaxation of 15N nuclei in the design of DUMAS technique.” His petition was swiftly approved in just 3 months and 5 days.
